Gift Vouchers available at Omorfia

Our team at Omorfia love being able to provide skin and body therapy treatments as a gift for someone special. In the past we have offered vouchers for any treatments available on the menu as well as for a dollar value. We found that an expiry period between 6-12 months kept the voucher at front of mind and was more likely to be used by the recipient rather than lost or forgotten.

With the change in regulations that came into effect on March 31, 2018 we are no longer able to offer gift vouchers for treatments on our menu only for dollar values. The reason for this change is that it isn’t feasible to hold pricing for three years on any treatment due to increases in service delivery costs annually. We are, however, able to offer gift vouchers for a dollar value with an expiry period of 3 years.

At certain times we may also offer Gift Vouchers for limited time treatment packages. These may be part of limited time specials,  as part of promotions, as a bonus to the purchase of products or services,  or donations we have provided for use in local fundraising initiatives. These vouchers may have reduced expiration periods and will be as noted on the voucher.

All Gift Vouchers purchased prior to March 31, 2018 have an expiry period as stated on the voucher, which is for an expiration period of 6-12 months, unless otherwise stated. If the recipient wishes to use the voucher for a treatment other than what is stated on the Gift Voucher, it will be subject to approval by Omorfia’s Manager. If the voucher is for a specific treatment package, the treatments must be booked together and not separated out, unless otherwise stated.

Omorfia gift vouchers can not be redeemed for cash.

We thank you for your understanding in order to ensure our compliance.

Lindfield Village Green and council carpark update

After widespread opposition from our Lindfield residents and business community, Ku-ring-Gai council agreed to increase the carpark in their proposed Lindfield Village Green development to three levels. The plans are now available for review, and our community has until this Friday 13th April to comment. Unfortunately, the gain in spaces is not necessarily a win. Why? We’ve tried to sum it up below, but please take the time to read the reports and help council get it right.

The snapshot

  • With the additional carpark level, council has increased the overall car spaces from 181 to 241, which is an increase of 55 short term spaces – taking the number of spaces to 136, which is the same amount as we have now.
  • They have also made an amendment to Condition 1 relating to commuter parking.

Are we better off?

  • We currently have 136 short term car spaces which is not enough to cope with the current demand.
  • The proposed new kiosk on the Village Green has been allocated 10 spaces, which means there’s actually a reduction in overall car space supply for visitors to existing businesses and community facilities under the new plan.
  • Council has not revised it’s interim car park plans whilst the new carpark is being developed.  The previous interim parking proposal was based on figures from an obsolete traffic report that stated the current carpark was under utilised and as a result only sought alternate measures for 67 cars. This included recommending people park in the new spaces underneath Harris Farm and IGA. As we’re already experiencing overflow issues from visitors to Harris Farm into the Tryon Rd carpark, this interim plan is not feasible.
  • Council has not highlighted how they are going to fund the additional level. In previous public meetings regarding the carpark there was mention of making spaces for one hour for free and then charging people if they stayed longer. Most of the current spaces (70%) are 2 hour spaces.
  • The car space width is proposed to be 2.6m for short term spaces and 2.4m for commuter spaces – given many of the community drives larger vehicles, these widths leave very little room to get into and out of cars without impacting adjacent cars, as is often the case in the current carpark.

What you can do:

If you’re concerned that the new plan does not adequately address the growing needs of our community, please email the assessment office Jonathan Goodwill at  kmc@kmc.nsw.gov.au or call him on 9424 0000. You can also email our Councillors at councillors@kmc.nsw.gov.au and let them know your thoughts. For full details of the modification (Ref: MOD0030/18), please visit council’s DA tracking page: http://datracking.kmc.nsw.gov.au/datrackingUI/Modules/applicationmaster/default.aspx?page=found&7=MOD0030/18

Skin sensitivity risk

Sensitive skin means something different to everyone. Some people experience mild, occasional flare-ups, while others suffer from ongoing intense redness and discomfort.

With lots of different causes and triggers (genetics, stress, diet, cosmetic ingredients, allergies and pollution) and sensitivity not being restricted to a particular skin type (dry, normal, oily etc), it can be tough to eliminate the origin of your skin sensitivity.

A new way to monitor environmental triggers

To help identify potential triggers, Dermalogica has just launched a Skin Sensitivity Risk barometer. The online tool looks at the temperature, pollution, and humidity in your area, and produces a sensitivity risk scores based on these factors. Take it for a test drive and see if it can help manage your skin sensitivity.

A new way UltraCalming Duo to treat skin sensitivity

While identifying sensitivity causes can be tough, finding a product that can address your specific sensitivity without identifying the cause can be tougher. To make it easier, Dermalogica has just released it’s UltraCalmingTM Duo; two products that treat the top three concerns of everyone who has sensitive skin: redness, irritation and dehydration. Both the Calm Water Gel and Barrier Defense Booster combine the best of nature’s botanical extracts with innovation from The International Dermal Institute to soothe skin sensitivity. The Duo joins Dermalogica’s UltraCalming range of products and can be used separately, or layered for maximum effect.

Barrier Defense Booster – this concentrated oil booster soothes and nourishes to restore balance to sensitive skin. Ideally it applied before the Calm Water Gel.

Calm Water Gel – this weightless water-gel moisturiser hydrates dry, sensitive skin. The unique formula transforms into a skin-quenching fluid upon application, forming a weightless barrier to help protect skin against environmental assault. Dual Hyaluronic Acid technology works in different skin surface layers to increase and lock in moisture.

Lindfield Village Green update

Despite widespread opposition from our Lindfield residents and business community, Ku-ring-Gai council is in the final stages of approving the two-level underground carpark with 100 commuter and only 80 short term spaces.

What this means for you:

  • We currently have 136 short term car spaces which is not enough to cope with the current demand.
  • Our local community will have to park in the surrounding streets to use the ammenities whilst commuters take the prime village car spaces.
  •  Previously we had 152 spaces until Council sold off 16 spaces in Havilah Lane to the developers.
  • The proposed new kiosk on the Village Green has been allocated a further 10 spaces, therefore, we need a minimum of 162 short term spaces to maintain the supply we have been used to.
  • 162 spaces doesn’t even take future growth into account. Imagine if we only get 80!
  • The State government is on our side, with local member Jonathan O’Dea being very vocal in not accepting anything less than 136 short term spaces.

What you can do:

Council is meeting on Tuesday 14th November 2017, to finalise the plans. If you do not want the current proposal to go ahead please email: councillors@kmc.nsw.gov.au  Every voice will help in reminding council that they are representatives of our local community interests and not their own.

Need a study break?

Reset and refresh with these study break tips

Exams can place a lot of stress on our bodies, especially the HSC.

Here’s 5 simple study break tips to help relieve tension, improve your state of mind and keep you feeling fresh.

  1. Aromatherapy in your pocket

Essential oils have an amazing power to calm, clarify and energise.  Try placing a couple of drops of essentials on a handkerchief to keep handy whilst studying, and pull out whenever you need a little aromatherapeutic boost.

    • For focus – try Rosemary (3 drops), Lemon (2 drops)  and Basil (1 drop)
    • For calming – try Lavender (3 drops), German Chamomile (2 drops) and Neroli (3 drops) – You can also place this one next to your pillow to help sleep.
    • For energy – try Eucalyptus (2 drops) , Peppermint (2 drops) and Lemon (2 drops)
  2. Have a relaxing soak in the tub

A  soak in the tub with 1-2 cups of epsom salts dissolved in the water is a great way to relieve muscular tension. Light a candle, turn on some chill-out tunes and relax. If you find having a bath too close to bedtime overstimulating, try having a bath break in the middle of the day.

  3. Drink plenty of water

It’s really hard to concentrate when your nervous system, including your brain, is dehydrated. Keep a bottle of water handy whilst studying and drink frequently. Plenty of water in your system does increase your toilet breaks, but these also give you a chance to stretch and reset your muscles.

  4. Multi-task; apply a masque

Stress can play havoc with our skin. Aside from maintaining a good daily skincare regime, take advantage of time spent at home by applying a masque when studying to give your skin an added hydrating/refining/brightening boost.

  5. Book in for a massage

Aches and pains from maintaining the same (poor) posture for long periods of time can lead to poor concentration and sleep. Reward yourself for studying well by booking a massage  – we have some amazing remedial and relaxation massage therapists at Omorfia, who excel at releasing tension from tight muscles.
